Man, I'd completely forgotten who Venus was - ended up re-reading the entire comic. No idea why Dr. Grey sent an android (who looks just like Joel before he ended up being mistaken for Jacob Schmitt after the "Incident") to burglarize the Woodsman's hideout, though.
I saw the red light in the cop's glasses, back when we first saw him tied to the chair. I wondered about it, but sure didn't guess this, probably should have.
Looks like Dr Grey has been collecting operatives for a while, from injured people.
Must be after the Joel / Jacob's accident there was a brain transplant (like with the ape). That put the stronger body and brain together. Then Dr Grey repaired Joel's body like he did with the cop. Much more extensively than we were lead to believe.
Hopefully Woodsman isn't also an operative.
